Congregational Nurture
The Congregational Nurture team at SGPC serves to meet the emotional and
physical needs of members
Prayer Chain: The SGPC Prayer Chain provides continual prayer support for both
confidential and non-confidential requests. Requests for prayers may be
communicated via email (sgpc@verizon.net ), telephone (512-868-0902), or written
request made in the Sunday friendship tablets. Please indicate whether your
prayer request is to be kept confidential.
SGPC Deacons and Shepherds: Deacons and Shepherds provide nurturing
care for all of our members. Some of their responsibilities include:
Caring for and visiting members during crises
Relaying prayer requests to the pastor and/or the Prayer Team
Arranging for hospital or home-bound members to receive communion
Arranging for meals at the time of an illness or death
Arranging for a Stephen Minister to provide one-to-one lay caring ministry to
persons in crisis or with other needs
Remembering their flock members at special times of the year
Stephen Ministry Program: SGPC is blessed to have an ongoing Stephen
Ministry Program. Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-
to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are
experiencing difficulties in their lives. Please visit our Stephen Ministry page
Prayer Shawl Ministry: The team knits and crochets shawls with prayer so that
the recipient can be wrapped in the love of God and recovers both physically and
emotionally.
Parents Night Out: The program provides child care on the last Wednesday of
each month so that their parents can go out and nurture their relationship.
Women’s Support Group: The support group is a group of Christian women who
listen and care for each other as they face life changes, family concerns, problems
and joys in a supportive, confidential friendly environment
