The Alpha Course!
Monday Eveniings

The ten week Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It is
relaxed, non-threatening, low-key, friendly and fun. There is a meal together at the
beginning of each session which gives everyone an opportunity to get to know each other.
Listen, learn, discuss, discover and ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is
too simple or too hostile. It is supported by all the main Christian denominations.
Inquirer's Class
Saturday September 19
9AM-12:30PM
This will be an excellent time to visit with Pastor Stanley and learn more about what it
means to be a Presbyterian. We will explore such subjects as Presbyterian History,
beliefs, worship and sacraments, polity and ministry opportunities at SGPC. You will meet
session members and hear about their different ministries. Please contact the church
office at 512-868-0902 if you plan to attend. Class will begin at 9AM with a light breakfast.
Disciple Bible Study I

Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study is an overview Bible study from creation in
Genesis to the New Jerusalem of Revelation. This study is open to those who are totally
new to the Bible as well as those who have participated in previous Bible study. DBS
offers a safe environment in which to ask questions and grow in faith.

Into the Word into the World study provides a deeper biblical understanding by viewing in
more detail the following four books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts. Designed for
those who have completed the Disciple I overview. Discussion each week applies God's
words to our lives and gives us opportunities to raise questions.

Taylor Weaver will lead the worship which is followed by DVD teaching by Beth Moore,
personal testimonies and small group discussion time.

Men's Small Group Study
Saturdays at 8:00AM in the Library
All men welcome to attend each Saturday morning. Second Saturday of the month we
meet for breakfast in the narthex.

G. W. I. P. (God's Works in Progress), a fellowship of younger adults, are beginning a
new study on Oct. 4 entitled Making Love Last a Lifetime. This group meets in the
sanctuary and is being led by Krystal Leedy, our seminary intern
Explorers Class
Each year this class chooses different religious topics to study from the Bible, theological
beliefs, church history and Christian ethics. The Rev. Dr. Mary Gaines is the coordinating
teacher and guest speakers are invited to make presentations. This fall the class will
continue their study of Church History using the A&E video series, "Christianity, the
Second 1000 Years."
The Vineyard Class
On October 4, a new 8 week study will begin on the book, "Witness Without Parallel: Eight
Biblical Texts That Make Us Presbyterian." Larry Stewart will facilitate this class, which will
meet in the music room.
